KLANG VALLEY MASS RAPID TRANSIT PROJECT LINE 2

DESCRIPTION

SMHB was the Lead Consultant for the design and construction of the Southern Elevated Packages for KVMRT Line 1 from Cheras to Kajang comprising Packages V5, V6, V7, V8 and the Kajang Depot.

Subsequent to the above works, in 2014, the client appointed SMHB for Schematic Design of Elevated South Package 1 and Elevated South Package 2 of Line 2 KVMRT from Pandan Jaya to Serdang. The total length includes 2 km Spray Concrete Lining Tunnel.

The client proposed a revised alignment involving station at the proposed Bandar Malaysia that is expected to increase ridership to 13,000 commuters daily. This station will also connect to the proposed Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high speed rail terminal.

The Line 2 final alignment comprises 52.2 km rail line (38.7 km elevated and 13.5 underground) and 36 stations (25 elevated and 11 underground).

In 2015, SMHB was subsequently appointed to carry out scheme and detailed design for the new alignment known as the Southern Kuchai Lama-Serdang alignment (SKSA). The SKSA work package is presently under construction.

For the Putrajaya Line, SMHB’s Mechanical and Electrical Division was engaged by an architectural firm appointed by the Project Delivery Partner (PDP) to carry out detailed design for line-wide elevated MRT stations including firefighting components. This requires extensive interfacing and coordination works with other consultants involved in various work packages for Line 2 building and surface works.

Since April 2015 to date, the M&E team carry out detailed design and construction supervision for the Serdang Depot which serves as light maintenance facilities for Line 2 rail operations.
