SMHB has extensive experience in developing drainage, irrigation as well as flood mitigation schemes. We have worked closely with government agencies and agricultural organisations in establishing master plans, conducting feasibility studies, providing detailed designs and construction supervision for drainage improvements in townships, irrigation canal networks for agricultural schemes, river works and flood protection schemes.

Our expertise in drainage and irrigation includes surface and underground drainage systems, hydraulic structures and other control systems including drainage pumping systems, irrigation channels that may be lined or unlined, and associated irrigation facilities.

Our capabilities in river engineering and flood protection encompasses all forms of river training and channel re-alignment, flood levees, dams and barrages, control gates and weirs, soft bank protection, etc. established based on an in-depth understanding of river hydraulics and the behaviour of open channels and estuaries. In addition, we have the expertise and knowledge in the use of flood warning telemetry systems and other mechanical, electrical and control equipment for a more complete design of flood protection schemes.
