COMMON UTILITY TUNNEL FOR PUTRAJAYA CORE ISLAND (M&E Works)

Putrajaya Corporation had adopted a ‘No Dig Policy’ within the township, particularly at the Core Island (Precincts 2, 3 and 4) and appointed SMHB to propose, design and supervise the construction of a Common Utility Tunnel (CUT) to house the following utilities:

• Power and telecommunication cables.
• Potable water supply pipes.
• Chilled water pipe.
• Fiber optic cables.

The tunnel is approximately 11 km long and it measures 8.8 m wide x 5 m high.

The mechanical and electrical services in the tunnel include:

• Small power and lighting.
• Drainage system.
• Ventilation system.
• Intruder alarm system.
• Security system.
• Fire alarm system.
• Tunnel Automation System (TAS).
• Tunnel Management System (TMS) housed at the Local Action Centre (Command Centre) to control and manage all of the systems.

Services Provided
Detailed engineering design, preparation of specification and tender document and construction supervision, factory testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning.
