SMHB INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

The SMHB Integrated Management System (IMS) is outlining:

  1. the scope of the Integrated Management System for SMHB Sdn. Bhd., SMHB Engineering Sdn. Bhd. and SMHB Environmental Sdn. Bhd. (hereon collectively referred to as “SMHB” or “SMHB Group of Companies”)
  2. the set of interrelated key processes which together constitute the Integrated
  3. Management System
  4. the IMS documentation and procedures that have been defined, established and implemented in relation to the Integrated Management System and requirements of MS ISO 9001:2015, MS ISO 14001:2015, MS ISO 45001:2018 and MS ISO 37001:2016.

SCOPE

The scope of SMHB’s Integrated Management System covers the provision of engineering consultancy and project management services including engineering and environmental studies, design and construction supervision. Processes within the scope are as identified in Integrated Management System Processes and Clause 5 of the IMS Manual.

The Integrated Management System is applicable for all works carried out by SMHB.

Works that are outsourced will also be subject to the requirements of SMHB’s Integrated Management System. The necessary controls or review shall be identified and indicated in the relevant project plans.

Waiver to the application of the Integrated Management System may be given by the Managing Director (MD)/ Board of Directors (BOD) under exceptional circumstances where it does not affect SMHB’s ability or responsibility to ensure the conformity of its products and services, the enhancement of customer satisfaction, the enhancement of environmental, safety and health performance, and the prevention of bribery.

BACKGROUND OF SMHB

SMHB’s business spans across the country and also extends to other countries outside Malaysia. The types of projects undertaken by SMHB include project management, engineering and environmental studies, engineering design and construction supervision.

As a leading engineering consultant in Malaysia, SMHB is desirous in continuously upgrading the scope and quality of its services. In recognition of this need, due emphasis is given in SMHB’s management and organisation structure.

Various factors are considered in the formulation of SMHB’s business strategy. External factors which are critical to the business performance include:

SMHB shall monitor and review the related issues on a regular basis to ensure the planned business, QESH performance and prevention of bribery are achieved.

In business planning, SMHB identifies the professional bodies and regulatory bodies that affect or potentially affect its processes in delivering products and services as well as achieving QESH and anti-bribery performance and objectives. The related requirements of these bodies are monitored and reviewed to ensure SMHB’s consistency in meeting the needs of the Client and Stakeholders, as well as the statutory and regulatory requirements.

BUSINESS PROCESSES

Generally, there are four main types of services provided by SMHB:

  1. Project management
  2. Engineering/ Environmental study
  3. Engineering design
  4. Construction site supervision

Project management activities cover the entire project cycle, from inception to handing over of the project. Depending on the nature of the project and the requirements of the Client, the service provided may involve engineering/ environmental study, engineering design, site supervision or a combination of services.

INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

SMHB shall establish, document, implement, maintain and continually review and improve its Integrated Management System in accordance with the requirements of MS ISO 9001:2015, MS ISO 14001:2015, MS ISO 45001:2018 and MS ISO 37001:2016 standards to achieve the following objectives:

  • Prevention of pollution
  • Provision of safe and healthy workplace
  • Identification and evaluation of risk of bribery
  • Prevention and detection of bribery and response to bribery
