KUALA LUMPUR FLOOD MITIGATION SCHEME PMC FOR BATU/JINJANG PONDS & FLOOD DIVERSIONS

The Batu/Jinjang Flood Retention Ponds and Related Flood Diversions Project is one of the large-scale flood mitigation options commissioned by Jabatan Pengairan & Saliran OPS) Malaysia in 2002 as a solution to mitigate fragment flooding incidents in Kuala Lumpur city.

The strategy of the project is to divert flow discharges from Sungai Gombak (275 cumec) and Sungai Keroh (100 cumec) into the Batu Detention Pond and Jinjang Ponds respectively to reduce the river flows in the city during the 1 in 100-year flood event.

Bayu Pedoman Sdn Bhd in association with SMHB was engaged by JPS to manage the project which includes cost evaluation and negotiation and the review of the design and related contract documents submitted by the turnkey contractor.

The scope of flood mitigation work comprises the construction of Batu and Jinjang Flood Detention Ponds, Flood Diversion Channels and Associated Structures on a Design and Built basis.
